The Kamov Ka-60 helicopter soared through the stormy skies. The aircraft was known as the "Kasatka" to those who flew it. It was a sleek and agile rotorcraft with a powerful twin-engine configuration, advanced avionics, and a spacious cabin capable of carrying up to fifteen passengers or 2,000 kilograms of cargo. It flew silently toward the desolate expanse of Kolguyev Island through a dark and snowy storm.

After approaching Kolguyev Island, part of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug of Russia, one of the most remote places in the world, it started to descend toward the only helipad on the island. Its landing lights cut through the swirling snowflakes as it touched down.

As the rotor blades of a transport helicopter stopped, Artem opened the door. "After you," he said to Maslov. "It's now time to find out whether or not you did your job."

Maslov nodded and walked out of the helicopter. Maslov walked toward the main entrance of the facility. He was followed by Arman, Artem, and a group of ten men that Artem had told him were his best.

Two guards stood at the door. One approached. "Who are you?" He asked.

"My name is General Maslov. I have special authorization. My associate here is a GRU officer. I have been granted special access to this facility."

"Ah, yes," the guard said. "Right this way."

Maslov exhaled a sigh of relief. The guard guided them into the facility.

He guided them to the main command center. Four men in lab coats occupied the space. A senior technician approached Maslov. "We got word from the Kremlin about your visit yesterday," the technician said. "My name is Dr. Grigory Fetisov. Your request was highly unusual, but when I heard who'd asked for it, I couldn't refuse. To think I get to meet the famous General Maslov. You saved hundreds of Russian lives in Chechnya. You are a real hero."

"Thank you," Maslov said. "How does the weapon work? I've heard that it's next-generation. Is Poseidon ready? How many do you have?"

"The original name for this project was Status-6. President Makarov ordered its development in an attempt for our great country to overcome modern American missile defense systems. That said, these are not first-strike weapons that could destroy U.S. cities out of the blue. They're large and noisy, and once launched, they will take days to reach their target. These torpedos are meant to ensure that, in the event our enemy scales up their missile defense program, Moscow will still have the means to threaten them, especially naval bases capable of reloading American ballistic missile submarines and major economic targets such as Los Angeles or New York City. Current American systems are highly sophisticated, whether they are anti-ballistic missiles, railguns, or laser weapons."

"They can shoot our missiles straight out of the sky?" Maslov asked.

"We don't know," the doctor said. "But the Kremlin doesn't want to risk it. That's why we developed the Poseidon torpedos. They are different. They're almost impossible to destroy once fired since they can dive up to depths that no radar can detect.
